From the markets of Panama City to the neon streets of Bangkok, Buhonero Clandestino’s journey has been one of constant reinvention. After relocating to Thailand, he created Conjunto La Ganga and began fusing salsa, flamenco and Thai melodies into a sound all his own. Recognised by Music Copyright Thailand and the Bangkok Post for bringing Latin rhythm to Asia, he’s now setting his sights on a full‑length album that pushes the Latin‑Asian genre even further. Each song and show is a celebration of his bi‑cultural identity and a milestone on the way to a debut release that will tell his story to the world.
Buhonero’s musical vocabulary is shaped by a diverse set of influences that span continents and genres. From the storytelling mastery of Rubén Blades, Joaquín Sabina and Jorge Drexler to the atmospheric pop of Gustavo Cerati and Juanes, he draws on the depth of Latin songwriting traditions.
The grit of Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso and Calle 13, the salsa swing of Willie Colón, Frankie Ruiz, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Héctor Lavoe, and the tropical warmth of Juan Luis Guerra inform his rhythms. He also carries the spirit of Panamanian mentors like Carlos Vallarino and Ivan Barrios, and global collaborators such as Kam Williams.
These influences weave together into a Latin‑Asian fusion that respects its roots while pushing into new territory.
Since pioneering Bangkok’s first Latin‑Asian concert gallery at River City in 2017, Buhonero has become a catalyst for the region’s Latin movement. Regular performances at Flamenco Bangkok through 2020, a live album, and a show at the Queen’s International Silk Fashion Week established his presence on prestigious stages.
He wrote the original soundtrack for the Panamanian film Everybody Changes and composed Spanish‑language versions of Thailand’s beloved Songkran and Loy Krathong festival songs, bridging cultures through music.
As the Co-founder of La Rumba JJ26—a vibrant hub where Latin culture merges with Thai identity—he continues to nurture the scene while appearing in shopping malls and on major TV broadcasters. These milestones underscore his role as a trailblazer for Latin‑Asian fusion and set the stage for the next chapter of his career.
